DON'T LET THE SWINE FLU GET TO YOU!
Your best defense against the Swine Flu:
-
DON'T PANIC- most cases are mild and resolve without medical intervention
-
WASH YOUR HANDS- especially in public places and avoid touching your face
-
AVOID SUGAR- sugar and white flour suppress your immune system
-
GET REST- your body needs rest to keep it strong enough to fight off potential invaders
-
EXERCISE- exercise oxygenates your body and makes it less likely for viruses to live
-
TAKE VITAMIN D- this may be the single most effective thing you can do to avoid the flu. The recommended daily allowances (RDA) are too low, and doses of 2,000-5,000 international units (IU) may be needed to maintain adequate blood levels. Monitor your levels through a Vit 25-OH blood test and keep them between 50-60 ng/ml.
THINK TWICE ABOUT THE FLU SHOT
Get informed before you and your children line up to take the experimental Swine Flu vaccination. Go to NVIC.org for safety and informed consent issues.
BEFORE YOU ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVE:
The H1N1 dilemma
Every day Americans are hearing reports about the Swine flu pandemic and are openly encouraged to get vaccinated. But the latest studies are indicating that the risks of the H1N1 vaccination may outweigh the risks of the flu it was intended to prevent. Here are the latest facts:
-
The H1N1 influenza is mild for 99% of the population.
-
The swine flu vaccination has been tested for only a few weeks on a few thousand healthy people. Safety issues with children and adults who have other neurological or immune system imbalances are not known.
-
There is insufficient information about how safe it is to give the swine flu vaccine with other vaccines including other childhood or seasonal influenza vaccines.
-
There is very little information about whether the swine flu shot will keep you from getting swine flu.
-
Congress has shielded vaccine manufacturers and any person giving the flu shots from lawsuits if people get hurt.
All pharmaceuticals, including vaccines, come with risks. Become an informed health care consumer before you or your children willingly roll up your sleeve. Go to NVIC (National Vaccination Information Center) for more information.
Help your kids "smart start" their day!
Breakfast literally means "break the fast" and is the most important meal of the day. Many children's cereals are laden with 30% or more sugar by weight, and breakfasts that consist primarily of waffles, pancakes, or bagels are too high in simple carbohydrates. These excess sugars and carbs are two of the major culprits that contribute to the rising epidemic of obesity and type II diabetes in American children. A balance of whole grains and protein, rather, is vital to stabilizing blood sugars and helps to prevent diabetes and obesity from occurring.
So instead, try a vegetable omelet wrapped in a whole grain tortilla, a whole wheat veggie pizza, or an open-faced, turkey-bacon BLT on multi-grain bread. If desired, add a piece of fruit, but avoid drinking juice. This 4 to 3 ratio of carbs to proteins will not only help maintain ideal body weight, it will improve concentration and cognition as well.
Now that's a smarter way to start the day!!
